1. IntroductionSize 1-3 PTO Shaft Used on small timber winches and centrifugal fertilizer spreaders. Rated for 16 hp at 540 rpm; 25 hp at 1000 rpm.
Size 4-5 PTO Shaft Used on medium tractor winches, small wood chippers, small rotor tillers and some hay rakes. Rated for 35 hp at 540 rpm; 55 hp at 1000 rpm.
Size 6 PTO Shaft Used on large logging winches, medium wood chippers, mowers, snow blowers, and rotor tillers. Rated for 62 hp at 540 rpm; 98 hp at 1000 rpm.
Size 7-SLC PTO Shaft 75 - 115 hp
Size 8 PTO Shaft Used on forestry mowers and large snow blowers. Rated for 91 hp at 540 rpm; 145 hp at 1000 rpm.

4. Application GuideThe following chart gives you the industry standard for PTO driveline horsepower ratings. Please keep in mind these are rated horsepower at the PTO, not engine horsepower. Many times the difference between engine horsepower and PTO horsepower can vary as much as 10%. If you are not sure how far you can safely extend a driveline, the following chart give the recommended maximum extension available on each series of shaft with a minimum collapsed length listed. In most cases, it is recommended that the driveline does not extend 1/2 of its' collapsed length. This means the driveline tubes should overlap at least 1/2 for safe operation at all speeds.
